West Seattle Crime Watch: Stolen ‘trike’ and generators

The photo and report are from Nick:

My blue trike wagon and 2 portable generators were stolen from my home. The generators were locked to my travel trailer that was parked in my driveway and the locks were cut very crudely and my GF and I think that they must have taken the trike and carried the generators away on it. I’m including a picture of the bike so that if anyone sees the bike, they can let me know.

The police report # is 2018-353404.

West Seattle Crime Watch: Police search after Harbor Avenue 7-11 robbery

12:54 AM: Police are being sent right now to the Harbor Avenue 7-11 after a reported armed robbery. According to police dispatch, three people robbed the store at gunpoint. The clerk is reported to be injured, so SFD is being sent too. So far, only a partial description of the robbers – three men, one black, two white, in their late 20s, one in a white jacket, two in black jackets. We’ll add anything more we find out.

1:00 AM: Two of the robbers were reported to have been wearing masks; all three were last seen walking away, possibly carrying cases of beer. The Guardian One law-enforcement helicopter is now in the area helping with the search.

1:29 AM: No luck so far.

10:19 AM: We just checked with SPD media relations. The robbers are still at large. Description and circumstances info in the report is all the same as what we reported at the time, with two added details: This was reported by a customer who came into the store about five minutes after the holdup and found the clerk injured. One of the robbers had hit him on the back of the head with an object believed to have been a gun. SFD treated him at the scene.

West Seattle Crime Watch: Stolen black eBike

Dennis hopes you can help find his stolen eBike:

On the 10th of this September I was working out at the YMCA at 3622 SW Snoqualmie St and when I went out to the bike rack, the chain had been cut and the bike was gone. I estimate that the theft occurred at about 5 PM on that day.

It’s a 2013 black OHM with a BAFANG motor connection. It says OHM on the frame. It’s a 20” frame with 28” wheels. It has a Topeak bag on the back where the battery is stored. It has a little tiny brass bell on the handlebars and a brown Brooks saddle with a rain cover.

The folks at the bike shop told me that oftentimes someone will ride an eBike and then dump it when the battery runs out since they can’t charge it at that point.

The SPD incident # is 18-341341.

9:29 AM: If you’ve noticed the police presence in/around Lincoln Park – we just went down to find out. The description broadcast on police radio: “Light-skinned black male, light facial hair,” wearing a baseball-style cap over a pulled-up hoodie with three reflective strips on it and cut-off sleeves, black pants, running shoes. If you have any information, call 911.

9:33 AM: Our crew subsequently went over to the gas station, where they were told it wasn’t an attempt, it was indeed a robbery, and the robber got away with some money. Detectives are there talking with them now.

FOLLOWUP: Hearings for two high-profile West Seattle cases

Just checked the files on high-profile West Seattle criminal cases we’re following:

EDIXON VELASQUEZ MURDER: The two people charged in this deadly shooting one year ago in Westwood were back in court this morning. A new trial date, January 15th, has been set for Anna Kasparova, an ex-girlfriend of the victim who is alleged to have lured him to his death, and Abel Linares, accused of shooting Velasquez outside his home.

RYAN COX: It’s now been 13 months since this repeat offender was arrested and charged with stabbing a man in Gatewood. Back in July, Cox was found competent to stand trial. At a hearing this morning, the date for his trial was postponed again; pending what emerges at a readiness hearing on October 19th, his trial is tentatively set to start November 5th. His lawyer moved for the delay, according to the document filed after today’s hearing, so they could complete “witness interviews.”

STOLEN BIKE: From Trissa:

We live on Pigeon Point which is experiencing a recent spike in thefts from sheds & yards. Sometime during the week of August 18-26th, someone stole our son’s bike from our front shed. We didn’t notice it was missing right away, so we didn’t check our security footage before it was recorded over. … Since others have had luck getting their bikes back, here’s a picture. The serial number which is embossed on the bottom of the frame is AHAX8J6025. It is a Haro 16” Flightline mountain bike. The police case number is 2018-907913.

STOLEN PURSE/KEYS: If you see a green crossover purse cast aside somewhere … it might be Lynette‘s purse, stolen from her car. She’s canceled her credit cards but is hoping the purse might still contain some keys she would really like to get back.

FOUND BIKE: Diane found a likely-stolen-and-dumped bicycle described as “a racing bike, FELT Z 80, blue, with white handles. It was stuffed in the blackberry bushes behind my house, in the alley.”

EMMA SCHMITZ OVERLOOK: Sent anonymously:

Seen while walking in Emma Schmitz park – at the bottom of the north end of the “soon to replaced” sea wall – stolen and dumped? – looks like the brand is Nishiki.

UPDATE: This bike’s been reunited with its owner, per comments!

BACK TO ORIGINAL REPORT: (We hope it never happens to you but if your bike – or anything else! – is stolen, PLEASE report it to police – if it’s found but there’s no record, they can’t make a match. Here’s how. And then please let us know so we can include it in Crime Watch – thank you!)

1 in custody after police callout in West Seattle Junction

Thanks for the tips about that big police response midblock on California SW between Alaska and Edmunds. We got there just as they were wrapping up. They tell us they were called about a man harassing passersby and people in businesses; when the first officers on the scene made contact with the suspect, he was uncooperative and they called for backup. He is now in custody; no injuries reported.

READER REPORT: Package-theft evidence?

A reader texted that while on business in the Luna Park area off Manning this morning, they found empty Amazon packages, possibly evidence of theft. The addresses were for an apartment in the 2200 block of Alki, a house on the 5600 block of 37th SW, and the Amazon Locker outside Jefferson Square Safeway. They called police but absent reports from the theft victims, the calltaker would only refer them to the illegal dumping hotline. So the finder asked us to put out a general package-theft alert.

Two West Seattle Crime Watch notes:

GUARDIAN ONE: Thanks to those who messaged us a few minutes ago that the law-enforcement helicopter was in the Westwood area; it wasn’t showing on flight tracker so we didn’t know until then. We checked in with them on Twitter and the reply: “Assisted Seattle PD with taking a felony suspect into custody near Westwood Village.”

STOLEN CAR: Alex e-mailed this report a short time ago: “My car was stolen outside of Southwest Youth and Family Services, at 25th SW and SW Alaska St. Blue Ford Taurus, 2005, WA license plate AVD0257. There is a Rover.com magnet on the back that may have been peeled off.” Call 911 if you see it. (SATURDAY UPDATE: Alex says his car has been recovered.)

West Seattle Crime Watch: Door-kick burglary

The photo and report are from Lauren, whose house was burglarized this morning:

We live in the Gatewood neighborhood on California Ave SW and SW Webster. While my boyfriend and I were at work, the house was broken into via the back door. It was kicked in and the panels that create the lower portion of the door collapsed. The only thing we have found stolen at this time was my wooden standing jewelry box/cabinet.

I’m pretty upset because most of my jewelry was not expensive, but sentimental. They got my watches, hair combs, costume jewelry, and some select few pieces of nice jewelry. I will keep an eye on the blog in case random bits get trashed or left in an alleyway, etc. The window for the break-in occurring was very small- I left for work at 7:30 am and my boyfriend returned at 11:30 am to meet a repairman for our dryer.

We’ll add the police report # when we get it from Lauren. (Update: 18-323552)
