Three more Crime Watch reports;

DRUG STING: We learned about this via charges filed by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. 62-year-old Thomas B. Hull is charged with a drug felony and unlawful gun possession after what court documents describe as an undercover drug sting, making three buys at an RV on SW Marginal Place (which has been reoccupied since its summer sweep). Prosecutors say three undercover buys were made before Hull was arrested and the RV was searched: “Inside the RV, police found a significant amount of several types of drugs, a scale, and he had 5 thousand dollars in cash. Police also found a 22-caliber revolver, bullets, and a musket.” The “several types of drugs,” according to the charging documents, included fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine.” Hull has 12 felony convictions, including burglaries, drug violations, and forgery. Prosecutors asked for $100,000 bail; a judge set it at $10,000. Hull got out of jail one day after his arrest last Friday; he was charged on Tuesday.

ASSAULT ARREST: A woman was arrested for investigation of second-degree assault after police responded to a report of two women fighting outside an apartment building in the 7600 block of 35th SW just after 6:30 last night. The summary says, “Upon arrival, officers located the victim, who told officers the suspect assaulted her with a knife and then bit her. The victim said she then pepper-sprayed the suspect in self-defense.” ADDED: We’ve since obtained more information from police. The victim, 45, and her 73-year-old mother were walking by when they saw the 44-year-old suspect vandalizing a car, first trying to rip off its mirrors, then hitting the windshield with a knife handle. The victim pulled out her phone to video-record her and the suspect became agitated, threatening to kill the other women, and coming at them with her knife. The victim pepper-sprayed her but also got cuts on her hand from trying to prevent the suspect from stabbing her. Police arrived at some point and while trying to sort everything out learned that the car the suspect was vandalizing belonged to a 66-year-old woman who has had a longstanding conflict with the suspect over a dog. Police say the suspect is “well-known to officers as she has assaulted multiple people unprovoked in her apartment building that she thinks are trying to kill her, a pair of CPS workers who tried to check on her 6-year-old daughter, and (her daughter’s) school principal.” The suspect was booked into jail; her bail was set today at $5,000.

My 1992 Nissan Frontier truck – king cab, blue metallic/gray color, a black door on driver’s side, plate number B11839S – was stolen on 9/22. This is a photo from the web … my truck has black wheel rims but the color is similar. It’s been stolen twice now and this time it had “the club” on the steering wheel. It’s a good running vehicle and I would like to have it back.

Four reports in West Seattle Crime Watch:

SHOPLIFT-TURNED-ROBBERY: A 47-year-old man is in the King County Jail for investigation of robbery after an incident at Jefferson Square Safeway last night. Police say he went into the store just before 10 pm “brandishing a table knife” and “attempted to steal food items without paying before being confronted by loss prevention (who were) able to disarm the suspect and retrieve items after a scuffle.” The suspect was arrested shortly thereafter and was also found to have a warrant from a fourth-degree-assault case.

STOLEN E-BIKE: Sarah says WSB readers helped her get a stolen bike back two years ago. Now her orange and blue RadMission e-bike has been stolen.

It was stolen outside her workplace in the 4500 block of California SW earlier this week. It’s her “only mode of transportation,” Sarah says, and she’d “greatly appreciate” getting it back. (We’ll add the police-incident # when we get it.)

HIT-AND-RUN: Nancy says her Volvo was damaged by a hit-run driver at 2 pm Monday in the Les Schwab-West Seattle parking lot at Fauntleroy/Alaska. She says the culprit vehicle is a blue Prius that would have “new passenger-side damage to the front end.” Her Volvo, a silver 2017 model, was left with damage to three rear driver’s-side panels. One reader report in West Seattle Crime Watch today, from Kellene, property manager of a townhouse complex in the 5400 block of Delridge Way SW:

We have had a mail thief stealing our tenants’ mail. He has hit our mailboxes 8 times in the last month and we have filed reports with the police department and the postmaster general. He rides a bike and comes through in the early hours of the morning between 4:00 and 5:30 am. We are asking for help from the West Seattle neighborhood, to be on the lookout for this thief, and help in identifying this guy. We also want to help community members watch their own mailboxes.

Five reports in West Seattle Crime Watch:

STORE CLERK INJURED: A reader asked us about this incident and we obtained the report today. A clerk was injured trying to stop a would-be shoplifter around 10 am Sunday at Delridge Deli Mart. Police say the victim tried to chase the would-be shoplifter out of the store, when he pushed her to the ground. She was lying on the floor by the register, reporting hip, leg, and wrist pain, when responders arrived; they were told she was assaulted outside the store, managed to get up and go inside, but was hurting so badly she had to lie down again. She was taken to a hospital by AMR ambulance. The attacker was described in the narrative only as a “Black male,” but police were working to get the store security video. From the weekend’s brief SPD summaries, three other local incidents, starting with another case in which a store employee tried to stop a thief:

SHOPLIFT TURNED ROBBERY: Just after 5:30 pm Sunday, police were called to the South Delridge 7-11. A store employee told them a person had left the store without paying for merchandise; they followed the thief out and were subsequently assaulted by a second person wielding a knife. The clerk “armed himself with his own stick,” the summary says, “at which time the second suspect pointed a firearm at the clerk. The suspects fled in a vehicle. No injuries were reported.” This incident number is 2022-257011.

DON ARMENI ASSAULT: At 8:44 pm Saturday, police were flagged down about a “fight” of some kind at Don Armeni Boat Ramp. Here’s the summary:

Two intoxicated involved parties were located and interviewed about their roles in the incident. Both displayed injuries to their faces and hands and were treated on scene by Seattle Fire. These subjects reported being assaulted by a group of twenty 18-20 year-old males in an unprovoked attack. The subjects further reported that no words were exchanged with the suspects before or after the assault, leaving them unsure of any possible motive. The suspects fled the scene in vehicles prior to police arrival and no further specifics were provided by the remaining subjects. One of the subjects reported that his cell phone and wallet had been taken at some point during the incident, but it was unknown by which of the twenty suspects.

Radio exchanges on Saturday night described the attackers as “Asian males.” If you have any information, the report # is 2022-256152.

BUSINESS BURGLARY: Just before 1 am Saturday, officers responded to a report of a burglary at Westwood Village’s MOD Pizza. They found the back door open, with some kind of key in the lock, and the cash register was missing. The call was recent enough when they responded that they called in a K9, but they had no luck tracking the burglar. This incident number is 2022-255362.

We learned tonight of another early-morning business burglary – at The Spot West Seattle in Luna Park. Here’s their video and report:

At 5:14 am Sunday morning, a robber smashed through the window at The Spot West Seattle, located at 2920 SW Avalon Way. The burglar stole their cash register, and multiple other high-priced items. The police were called and fingerprints were taken. They said they might have a lead on who the individual is.

Alki Kayak Tours was broken into again early today, and they report one large stolen item:

Sadly, Alki Kayak Tours was broken into at 1:08 a.m. early this morning. Someone cut the cable locking our kayaks. By 1:12 a.m. the guy was gone with the boat. Please keep an eye open for a Castine 135 “Sunrise” – yellow, orange, and red in color – image (above). Also, it had a “Mountain to Sound” (our retail store) sticker on it.

From the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, four West Seattle cases in which charges were recently filed:

UNLAWFUL GUN POSSESSION: 26-year-old Antonio E. Ortiz of West Seattle was already wanted on a half-million-dollar warrant for robbery and other charges when he was arrested for this. Police who knew he was the subject of that warrant spotted him in the Westwood area on September 10th, driving a red BMW near Westwood Village. They followed him to the Roxbury Safeway gas station. Police converged on him there and took him into custody. Inside the car, on the front passenger seat, court documents say, they subsequently found a “Glock handgun with a high-capacity drum magazine.” It turned out to have been stolen from Auburn. Ortiz was ineligible to possess any gun, stolen or otherwise, as he has a robbery conviction on his record. So a first-degree unlawful gun possession charge has been added to what he already was facing, and 13 days after his arrest, Ortiz remains in jail, bail set at $610,000.

ANOTHER GUN POSSESSION CASE: Earlier this week, we mentioned that police arrested a 28-year-old man, after he was found in a car on Harbor Island with a handgun, despite being ineligible to possess one since he is a convicted felon, Now John J. Kyllo of North Seattle is charged with first-degree unlawful gun possession. Court documents say he was found in the crashed car last Sunday, unconscious, with the loaded 45-caliber Ruger handgun in his waistband. It turned out to have been stolen in Tacoma. Kyllo has six felony convictions on his record, including robbery, burglary, and failure to register as a sex offender. King County Jail records show his bail was set at $10,000 and he was released the day after his arrest.

STOLEN CAR: An auto theft in Admiral factors into charges filed against a 26-year-old woman. Prosecutors say Destiny R. Sweeney of Bothell acknowledged driving a Nissan Sentra stolen from the 2600 block of 42nd SW sometime between September 11th and 13th. Court documents say this is what happened: On September 14th, state corrections officers noticed the car, without plates, in South Seattle, and tried to pull it over. Instead, it sped away. They lost it briefly but found it, unoccupied, nearby, and soon found the woman they had seen driving it, identified as Sweeney. She has a record including theft convictions and is now charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and attempting to elude. Nine days after her arrest, she remains in the King County Jail in lieu of $5.000 bail.

BURGLARY: 35-year-old Darius J. Thomas of South Seattle is charged with first-degree burglary for a September 1st incident at a home on Olson Place. Prosecutors say he broke down the door of the house and assaulted a 16-year-old boy, a friend of Thomas’s son, who had been visiting there a short time earlier. Thomas also allegedly held the victim at knifepoint and made threats. Court documents say he has a felony drug conviction and four domestic-violence protection orders. He was not in custody at the time the charge was filed and jail records show he hasn’t yet been booked.

Someone pulled down our PRIDE flag hanging in front of our home around 6:15 am (and banged on our door and woke us) Tuesday morning, and this morning (Thursday), the same two perps struck our neighbor’s home as well as multiple other neighbors (based on our own and our neighbor’s RING video and because the young men were holding multiple PRIDE flags this morning). We live in Roxhill. I figured we should let our neighbor’s know, and I figured you might be a good place to start. I reported to the Seattle PD hate crime detective, although they have not gotten back to me.

STOLEN TRUCK: The report and photo are from Desiree:

My mother’s truck was stolen yesterday evening around 6:30 pm on 16th and Dakota near West Seattle Recycle.

It’s a 1995 F150 XLT blue teal Ford with a big dent on the passenger side and a medium dent on driver side. It has a tool box in back. Plate number: C12358Y . My mom loves this ugly ol’ truck and is devastated. If anyone sees it I’d love if they could let me (ot the police) know!

STOLEN SUV: This report and photo are from Athena:

Stolen near Fauntleroy and Findlay between 8 pm last night and 6 am today, a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. Ohio plate JLD4116. Police report # 2022-252347.

APPARENTLY ABANDONED CAR: From Rachael:

This appears to be an abandoned vehicle on Ferry and Hill street. Spoke with neighbors and it’s been there a week or so. No plates on it but did get a VIN off it. A couple tickets on it. I’ll report it to to (SPD). Just wanted to make sure to let anyone know if they are missing it.

One West Seattle case in the latest major-incident summaries from SPD. Police say this happened around 3 pm Monday afternoon in the 4500 block of 38th SW. The victim was selling items on OfferUp; he got a taker who said she would come to West Seattle to buy the items he was selling, Shortly after arrival, she looked at the items and, the report says, “had the victim follow her out to her car to get money.” She had an accomplice who subsequently “pulled out a handgun and stole the items the victim was selling.” The report adds, “She is described as a short female with black hair and blue strips in it” but doesn’t offer a description of the other robber; both got away. Six reports in Crime Watch:

BULLET THROUGH WINDOW: Just before 11:30 Friday night, according to a police-report summary, officers were called to a residence in the 2700 block of Alki Avenue SW for a report of a shot fired through a window. The single round was found embedded in an interior wall, according to the summary. It’s believed to have been fired from a vehicle. No injuries reported.

UNLAWFUL GUN POSSESSION: Just before 8:30 Sunday morning, SPD and SFD were called to a report of an unconscious person inside a car on Harbor Island. The report summary says SFD got there first and alerted SPD to a handgun seen by the car’s occupant. The person was found to be a convicted felon, and the gun was stolen, so they were arrested and booked into jail.

STOLEN CAR: Riley sent this reader report: “We had a vehicle stolen in front of our property at the 3900 block of Morgan around 5 am on Sunday. The attached photo is a stock photo but identical. There is no defining appearances to set it out from others. Lic #485XFZ. 2008 Acura TL type S. Police report number 2022-249779.”

ANOTHER STOLEN CAR: Dan sent this reader report and photo from just south of West Seattle:

North of 11th and 100th: Stolen Silver 2015 Hyundai Elantra, license plate number CBB2126. Our neighbor was able to provide doorbell cam footage of two individuals scouting, entering, and driving away with the vehicle around 2:45 am this morning. Any eyes our neighbors could provide or any advice on getting word out would be greatly appreciated.

POLICE CAR HIT BY DRIVER OF STOLEN CAR: Shortly after 3 am Sunday near Delridge/Juneau, someone driving a stolen car emerged from a driveway “at a high rate of speed,” according to the SPD summary, and hit a police car headed for the precinct. Despite major damage, the car was driven away from the scene, then abandoned nearby, and two people bolted. The police car was damaged badly enough that it couldn’t be driven, but the officer was not hurt.

HIT AND RUN: Reader report:

Hit and run at the intersection of Walnut Ave SW and Hinds midday on Sunday, Sept. 18. ‘Seeking a greenish van that crashed into a small car with 2 people inside, pushed it into the telephone pole (above), and drove away without stopping. The hit and run driver’s car (pictured below in the distance north of fire hydrant) is an old Toyota Sienna with a stripe around it.

The people who got hit had their airbags blow up and both people were shook up. Their car is in bad shape. If you see the greenish van, take a photo of the license plate number, AND REPORT TO THE POLICE. SPD incident # 22-249758.

ORIGINAL SUNDAY REPORT: Car stolen late Tuesday night: early Wednesday morning (Sept. 13-14) just off 4800 block Fauntleroy Way. Car stolen is a 2004 Subaru Forester XT. Black with gold tire rims and a few gold stickers on the back windows, also has tinted windows. License plate is BIT7898. Police report #: 2022-248136. High value items in the car that we are hoping to recover, including Pierce County fire uniform/gear. Fire Department is aware these items are stolen and keeping an eye out.

Ann Marie emailed about that stolen pickup truck, which belongs to her neighbor, a firefighter who discovered it missing when she went out to leave for work this morning. Ann adds, “It’s a stick shift, and quite distinctive as it’s older and louder when the engines is on. It has a WA firefighter plate, 09607.”

UPDATE: The car was found less than 10 blocks from where it was stolen.

Three reports in West Seattle Crime Watch so far today:

CAR THIEF HITS VICTIM: This appeared in Tweets By Beat as a “carjacking” but here’s what police say they found out happened, according to the police-report narrative we’ve obtained. They were called to California/Walker around 4:15 am for a report of a stolen white pickup truck. The officer looked around the area for the stolen vehicle and then went to the original scene, discovering someone “lying on the concrete in a parking lot, bleeding from the back of his head.” The victim’s son said he and his father were out searching for the pickup (stolen “earlier in the evening”) after tracking it via an Apple Air tag. They found it and opened a door to confront the thief, who, the report says, “immediately put the vehicle in reverse to flee the area.” The victim was “hit by the open driver-side door as the vehicle sped in reverse. (The victim) was slammed to the concrete and one of his shoes flew off his foot. The vehicle fled northbound through the alleyway.” The thief, now also wanted for hit-run, was described as a Black man, early 30s, 6′ tall, heavy build, wearing a blue sweatshirt. GUNFIRE INVESTIGATION: Last night before 10 pm, people called 911 to report hearing gunshots near 18th SW and SW Roxbury. Officers found “evidence of a shooting in the roadway,” according to the summary, and also found that an “occupied residence” had been hit by gunfire. No injuries were reported. The gunshots might have come from a vehicle, as, police were told, “A vehicle was seen speeding away SB on 18th SW but was unidentifiable.”

STOLEN WAGON: Reader report from David: “Last evening our beloved Veer Cruiser Wagon was stolen from our front porch off Spokane and 44th.” David is filing a police report; we’ll add the number when it’s available. (Added) Here’s what the wagon looks like.

5:37 PM UPDATE: David says he went looking for the stolen wagon and got it back: “Just took a little drive on Avalon, near the encampments cause I thought it was worth a shot. Saw a guy pushing a Veer Cruiser Wagon across the street. Confronted him and he gave it back to me. Sometimes the good guys do win. There were also some confidential financial documents in there that were probably stolen from a car at some point. I have them and will return them to [the person named in them].” We asked where exactly on Avalon; he said where it meets Spokane, under the bridge.
