These aren’t the last big events of the summer, but this is the last mega-big DAY of the summer:

UPDATE – HIGHWAY 99 REOPENS: Updated from the original note here – WSDOT sends word that ALL parts of the overnight Highway 99 work zone are open again as of 9 am, even the part that was supposed to be closed until noon.

SECOND STAGE CONSIGNMENT DROPOFF AT FIREFLY CAFE: Today’s the day! In advance of the impending opening of Second Gear Sports cosignment shop, in Morgan Junction. Firefly Café and Creperie (WSB sponsor) in The Junction is hosting a dropoff event today for anything you’d like to consign (or donate) to Second Gear, continuing until 4 pm. Details are on the Firefly Facebook page, including a Firefly discount if you drop something off! The truck will be behind Firefly at California/Genesee.

NEW RESTAURANT OPENS: It’s the official opening night for Pecado Bueno, the new taqueria-with-a-bar restaurant, first reported here in June. While their regular hours include lunch, they’ll officially swing the doors open at 5 tonight. (4523 California SW)

In addition to helping decide which two of the nine Seattle Mayor candidates will make it to the November election, the ballot also includes two Seattle City Council races and a levy to raise money for King County Parks. We should get one run of results tonight around 8:15 pm, and then additional counts each afternoon until everything’s tallied. We’ll publish results here as soon as they’re in.

COLMAN POOL REOPENS: We checked with Seattle Parks, and yes, they completed the pump repairs that closed the pool yesterday – so it will reopen on schedule today at noon.

ANOTHER VOTER-REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Too late to register to get a ballot by mail for next week’s primary, but if you’re not registered and want to be, you have one last chance – do it in person, today.
