Where: OnlineAre you ready to rediscover your creative spark and reconnect with what truly brings you joy? Join an intimate group of five for a transformative 14-week journey through the book The Artist’s Way, by Julia Cameron. This small, supportive space is designed for healers, wanderers, and creatives who seek to recover their sense of creativity, process fear, and move forward with renewed passion. It’s perfect for those seeking a blend of professional emotional support, structured creative practices, and soulful community. In this group, you’ll develop a daily journaling practice to deepen self-awareness, create a weekly self-care practice that nurtures your inner child, learn how to move through the fear of failure in a safe, structured environment, be seen, heard, and supported as you navigate the messiness of transformation, and connect with others in a gentle, healing space that encourages your authentic self to shine. Each group meeting will start with a grounding and breathing practice to help you feel more centered. Then everyone will have time to share their answers to the weekly prompts and process personal experiences of practicing and implementing the exercises from The Artist’s Way. There will also be time to share any feelings, memories, creative output, and/or synchronicities that arose during the week. All group members will be a witness to each others’ creative expressions and personal experiences, holding space for each other respectfully and compassionately. The group will end with a guided meditation and relaxation practice to help you transition out of the group. By the end of this 14-week journey, you’ll have cultivated a mindset of openness and feel empowered to embrace new possibilities with confidence and clarity.
Cost: $60/meeting ($840 for all 14 meetings)

Join us for our first HPAC Meeting of 2025!
We will be meeting in person at the Delridge Branch Library Meeting Room, Wed. 1/22 at 6:30 PM*While Highland Park, Riverview and South Delridge sit along a ridge, we have huge environmental impacts on the watersheds to our east and west. This month our meeting will hear reports from both sides, Longfellow Creek along Delridge and the Duwamish Waterway.
We are super excited to have guest Pamela Adams from BeaverInsights coming to discuss her research and observations of the beaver families living in Longfellow Creek.
It’s easy to pass over or near this urban creek daily without noticing it’s presence, but up and down the creekbed, from Nucor Steel to the Roxhill Bog, several families of beavers, plus other wild critters, have taken up residence and are busily going about their lives. Find out more about them and learn about the benefits they bring to water quality and salmon habitat.
On the Duwamish Waterway side, we will be hearing about progress in the plans for the new West Duwamish Wet Water Treatment Facility, soon to be built near the base of the Highland Park Way hill. King County Wastewater staff will update us on the design and upcoming construction milestones.
As usual, we will have a chance to speak with representatives from the Seattle Police Department about any public safety concerns. The Southwest Precinct building sits directly atop Longfellow Creek, as it runs through an underground culvert below the Home Depot parking lot.
Our meetings are free and open to the public, please join us!
*Note the early start time of the January meeting due to Library hours.

Grief Support Groups
Grief groups are brave and safe spaces where bereaved people can share their stories and speak their loved one’s name without fear of getting advice, platitudes, or being shut out, no matter how long it’s been since their loved one’s passing. Every participant has dedicated time to speak about whatever they’d like, without judgment or interruption. Talking about our deceased loved ones in a supportive environment helps us remember them fully and helps us learn to carry the weight of their loss a little more gently.
These are ongoing, drop-in groups, but space is limited. Because of the sensitive nature of traumatic loss, the Thursday group is open only for those who are traumatic loss survivors. Learn more and register at listeningtogrief.com/groups. Contact Tamara at tamara@listeningtogrief.com with questions.

F3, a free national men’s workout group:
We have a local workout location that meets at Hiawatha park on Tuesday mornings at 5:30 am sharp. The group has been around for a few years, so many folks that are up early might have come across us before doing burpees or pushups and counting out loud. We’d love to extend the invite to men of any fitness level – we work out as a group and don’t leave anyone behind, come as you are and hopefully leave a bit better.
The workout is 45 minutes long and then we all get coffee at West Seattle Grounds. You don’t need to bring anything special, just wear comfortable athletic clothes appropriate for the weather and some sneakers. Some work or gardening gloves can be helpful if you have a pair. Just don’t be late or the whole group is doing penalty burpees.

Rescheduled due to technical difficulties on January 9:
Stomp and Shout: The Untold Story of Northwest Rock & Roll
Thursday January 30, 2025 at 6 pm via Zoom (register here)Northwest Rock & Roll’s historical high points are well documented—in the late 20th century, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and other grunge gods took the world by storm. Previously, Seattle’s Queensrÿche and Heart had ruled the heavy metal realm. And prior to that, The Wailers, The Kingsmen, Paul Revere and The Raiders, and The Sonics had all fueled local teen dances with garage-rock versions of the region’s signature song, “Louie Louie.”
Yet these iconic bands are only half the story. In this talk, join author Peter Blecha to discover the lesser-known but vitally important bands and scenes that laid the foundation for what was to come—finally connecting all the dots between the fabled Northwest era of Ray Charles, Quincy Jones, and Jimi Hendrix, and the R&B-spiked roots of a distinct regional artform: the “Original Northwest Sound.”
Speaker Bio
Peter Blecha (he/him) is the director of the Northwest Music Archives, an award-winning author, a founding curator at MoPop, and a longtime staff historian at HistoryLink.org. Blecha’s newest book, Stomp and Shout: R&B and the Origins of Northwest Rock and Roll, draws on his deep knowledge as a leading expert on Pacific Northwest music history to chronicle both well-known and overlooked icons of the early Northwest Sound.
Blecha lives in Seattle.

Heart Tending Grief & Yoga Workshop with Listening to Grief and Daish Wellness and Coaching
Explore grief using breathwork, meditation, and yoga alongside art, writing, and color. Daisha Nilsen of Daish Wellness and Coaching and Tamara Kubacki of Listening to Grief will lead a small group through various movement and creative exercises. Yoga and breath work will help move heavy feelings through the body, and discussion and writing prompts will aid in processing the many different types of grief we all carry. Snacks and tea will be provided. You are encouraged to bring your own yoga mat and mug for tea!
All kinds of grief are welcome. The death of a loved one always brings grief, but we also feel grief over any big change, including divorce or break ups, job loss, the death of a pet, a move to a new city, and other big changes. We can also feel grief for the collective, like because of war and climate change, and because of ancestral trauma. It’s all welcome here.
