Mioposto is looking forward to Pride Month and celebrating LGBTQIA+ friends, family, and community.
Throughout June, the restaurant is serving up The Sylvia River-ita as their annual Pride cocktail, with 50% of proceeds going to Lambert House, an incredible organization that provides a vital safe haven for LGBTQIA+ youth in Seattle year-round.
Last year, Mioposto raised over $1,500 and they hope to raise even more this June. This year’s drink is The Sylvia River-ita, a bold, mango-jalapeño margarita with a Tajín rim, named in honor of Sylvia Rivera, a radical trans and gay rights activist, community organizer, and a key figure of the Stonewall riots of 1969.
“We were determined that evening that we were going to be a liberated, free community… I will struggle ‘til the day I die and my community will seek the rights that are justly ours.” – Sylvia Rivera
Located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, Lambert House is a critical resource to safeguard and uplift LGBTQIA+ youth.
Stop by any Mioposto location in Mount Baker, Ravenna, Admiral, or Mercer Island this June to enjoy a Sylvia River-ita and support LGBTQIA+ youth with every sip.

Why are we doing this work?
We’re partnering with King County Metro to repave the bus layover zone and street on SW Barton St.
The street’s concrete is old, cracked, and damaged from the heavy buses. Here’s what we’ll do:
-Replace the underlying soil with lightweight concrete
-Repave the road with stronger concreteThese improvements will:
-Reduce repair costs for SW Barton St
-Lower bus maintenance costs
-Make driving smootherDuring repaving, bus routes and layover zones will change. We’ll work with Metro to find the best new locations for bus stops and the layover area. We aim to minimize inconvenience and will provide updates on alternate arrangements. To contact our project team, email SWBartonLayover@seattle.gov.

Cost: Free with donations. The filmmaker Ava DuVernay’s documentary “13th” explores the intersection of race, justice, and mass incarceration in the United States. The Thirteenth Amendment, which abolished slavery in 1865, included an exception allowing slavery for individuals convicted of crimes. The film highlights how this clause has been exploited to perpetuate a form of legalized slavery within America’s prison system.
The film begins with the idea that 25 percent of the people in the world who are incarcerated are incarcerated in the U.S. Although the U.S. has just 5% of the world’s population. “13th” charts the explosive growth in America’s prison population; in 1970, there were about 200,000 prisoners; today, the prison population is more than 2 million. The documentary touches on chattel slavery; D. W. Griffith’s film “The Birth of a Nation”; Emmett Till; the civil rights movement; the Civil Rights Act of 1964; Richard M. Nixon; and Ronald Reagan’s declaration of the war on drugs and much more.

Dust off your reusable totes and mark your calendars: the Delridge Farmers Market is back with more vendors, an array of culturally rich foods, handcrafted goods, and community-driven initiatives. Kicking off its 2025 season on Saturday, May 17, this beloved community hub will run every Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM until the end of October at 9421 18th Ave SW.
Hosted by African Community Housing & Development (ACHD), the Delridge Farmers Market is a celebration of culture, community, and culinary creativity. As one of Seattle’s most culturally diverse markets, it offers a platform where local entrepreneurs with global perspectives share foods and goods that reflect the rich tapestry of our city’s diversity.
What’s Fresh This Season?
Expect a blend of global flavors and handmade crafts at the Delridge Farmers Market — from Afella Jollof’s authentic Senegambian dishes like jollof rice and goat dibi to Queen Sugar Baking Company’s irresistible Southern comfort treats. This season, the market proudly welcomes two new regenerative farms to its roster: Coyote Run Farms of Woodinville and Bahati Farm of Kent, expanding access to fresh, locally grown produce. But the Delridge Farmers Market is about more than just good food and handmade goods — it’s a hub for holistic community care. Each market serves as a one-stop shop for health and wellness needs, offering free services for the public like acupuncture, massage, or vaccinations, along with essential basic needs like diapers and dental hygiene kits to support neighbors’ well-being. Here, shopping local isn’t just a transaction — it’s a way to uplift the entire community.
Food Access for All
The Delridge Farmers Market is dedicated to making fresh, culturally relevant food accessible to the community. To support this mission, the market offers unlimited SNAP-EBT Market Match, Fresh Bucks, and WIC and Senior FMNP benefits. In addition, every youth under 18 receives a free $5 ACHD Youth Bucks voucher, helping them build healthy spending habits from an early age.The Delridge Farmers Market proudly sources local produce from its farmer vendors to distribute free of charge, giving away more than 50 bags of high-quality vegetables at each market. To further support farmers and reduce food waste, the market also purchases unsold produce at the end of the day, ensuring guaranteed sales for vendors. This produce is then donated to local community organizations or brought back to ACHD’s offices to be shared with clients in need.
More Than a Market
Beyond the stalls, the Delridge Farmers Market pulses with life — serving as a hub where community connections thrive. Organizations like Pongo Poetry Project and Art is Not a Privilege set up alongside vendors, offering engaging youth activities and facilitating deeper connections at each market day. Nonprofits collaborate to share program information, highlight local initiatives, and provide engaging activities that foster a sense of belonging. The market is more than a place to shop — it’s where stories are shared, friendships are formed, and the community truly comes alive.

On short notice a single person rallied 70+ people for a neighborhood protest in the Alaska Junction on April 5th! Many people said they’d like to see something like it on a regular basis. So in solidarity with the very successful Tesla Takedowns on Saturdays as well as showing there’s a groundswell of resistance spreading into neighborhoods all across the country, beginning this Saturday from 10-12 in the Alaska Junction there will be a West Seattle Resists rally. How can people participate? You can join us in the Alaska Junction, you can spread the word all around the Peninsula (Alaska Junction is well served by several bus lines), and you can also organize other rallies in all the neighborhoods that make West Seattle so wonderful.
Hope to see you there! Bring signs, things that make noise, and chairs if that is helpful.

Grief Support Groups
Grief groups are brave and safe spaces where bereaved people can share their stories and speak their loved one’s name without fear of getting advice, platitudes, or being shut out, no matter how long it’s been since their loved one’s passing. Every participant has dedicated time to speak about whatever they’d like, without judgment or interruption. Talking about our deceased loved ones in a supportive environment helps us remember them fully and helps us learn to carry the weight of their loss a little more gently.
These are ongoing, drop-in groups, but space is limited. Because of the sensitive nature of traumatic loss, the Thursday group is open only for those who are traumatic loss survivors. Learn more and register at listeningtogrief.com/groups. Contact Tamara at tamara@listeningtogrief.com with questions.

F3, a free national men’s workout group:
We have a local workout location that meets at Hiawatha park on Tuesday mornings at 5:30 am sharp. The group has been around for a few years, so many folks that are up early might have come across us before doing burpees or pushups and counting out loud. We’d love to extend the invite to men of any fitness level – we work out as a group and don’t leave anyone behind, come as you are and hopefully leave a bit better.
The workout is 45 minutes long and then we all get coffee at West Seattle Grounds. You don’t need to bring anything special, just wear comfortable athletic clothes appropriate for the weather and some sneakers. Some work or gardening gloves can be helpful if you have a pair. Just don’t be late or the whole group is doing penalty burpees.
