THANKSGIVING (NOV. 27) & PRE-THANKSGIVING

THANKSGIVING MEAL HOLIDAY ORDERING: Here are options, if you want someone else to do most of the work for you:

=West Seattle Thriftway (WSB sponsor) – Options and prices are on this page, both full dinners – turkey breast, whole turkey, baked ham – and a la carte sides. Order through the deli; deadline is November 23. Order pickup deadline is Thanksgiving Day (when the store closes).
PCC West Seattle (WSB sponsor) – Holiday meals, sides info here. The only advance reservation selections will be from meats: turkeys, hams, beef, etc. The deadline to make a reservation order is Sunday, November 23, 11 pm.
Husky Deli – Order by November 24, full Thanksgiving turkey dinner for 5, $165 plus tax (half-gallon of ice cream included!). Info here.
Locol Kitchen and Bar: “This year, we’re excited to offer a special Thanksgiving To-Go Menu for West Seattle residents. People will be able to choose from a selection of our house-made dips, appetizers, platters, and desserts—perfect for bringing their Thanksgiving celebration. People can visit our website for a link to the ordering page where you can select what you’d like and schedule a pickup on either the 25th or 26th, or people can email us at info@thelocolbar.com.”

Bakery Nouveau – Order at least 48 hours in advance, on days when they’re open (Wednesdays-Sundays). See holiday items here (mostly pies) for online ordering; see other options here.
A La Mode Pies – All Thanksgiving-week pies must be pre-ordered. Go here to order. Thanksgiving week, A La Mode WS will be open normal business hours Mon-Wed (10 am-9 pm) and open Thanksgiving Day from 10 am-3 pm.

EASTRIDGE CHURCH TURKEY GIVEAWAY: Hundreds of turkeys and bags of holiday-fixings groceries will be available outside the church at 39th/Oregon, starting at 9 am Saturday, November 22, continuing until 11:30 am, or while they last. Details here.

TONY’S TREES: As we reported recently, the tree lot at 35th SW and SW Barton will return this year, right after Thanksgiving.

WEST SEATTLE NURSERY (California/Brandon; WSB sponsor): The first trees have arrived at West Seattle Nursery (5275 California SW; WSB sponsor) and more are expected soon.

HOLY ROSARY TREE LOT: The Holy Rosary School Tree Lot, on the north side of the campus, usually opens the day after Thanksgiving. Part of the proceeds go to local nonprofits.

TREES BY THE SEA (2530 Alki SW) … Watch the website for the Alki lot – the owners tell us they WILL be back this year, they’re just finalizing the dates etc.

COCOA & COAT DRIVE, DECEMBER 14: At the south end of the Farmers’ Market with the Kiwanis Club of West Seattle, 10 am-2 pm – bring new or gently used coats, hats, gloves, scarves – “Enjoy a cup of hot cocoa courtesy of Husky Deli.”

ADMIRAL CHURCH, THROUGH DECEMBER 15: Two donation sites:

The Admiral Church Annual Warm Clothing Drive is in full swing, this year with two drop-off points: one in front of the Admiral HUB (at 4320 SW Hill St) for community donations; and the other at the Admiral Chapel at SJB (3050 California SW), for donation drop off during worship. There is a deep need for warm children’s clothing this year, so if you have neighbors with school age children who have outgrown their winter clothes from last year, encourage them to donate to this great cause. The children’s clothing will be distributed at WIN’s Saturday Feeding Program in White Center to those who need the clothing the most. Adult clothing will be sorted through and divided between the Westside Neighborhood Emergency Shelter and WIN’s Saturday Feeding Program. Larger sizes for both men and women are needed by WIN. Smaller sizes by Westside along with warm coats, hats, and gloves. Cash donations to Admiral’s Outreach Fund will also support this effort.

WINTER-CLOTHING DRIVE AT DAVE NEWMAN STATE FARM INSURANCE AGENCY, THROUGH DEC. 31:The annual warm-clothing drive at Dave Newman State Farm Insurance Agency (3435 California SW; WSB sponsor) continues through the end of the yearl Stop by the office 9 am-5 pm weekdays to drop off donations.

POP-UP HANUKKAH IN THE JUNCTION, DECEMBER 21: On the final night of Hanukkah, Kol HaNeshamah leads a public celebration at Junction Plaza Park (42nd SW and SW Alaska, 5 pm.

GIANT MENORAH ON ALKI, DECEMBER 21: Also on the final night of Hanukkah, the West Seattle Torah Learning Center will lead a public celebration at Alki, 5 pm, lighting a giant menorah, plus a fire show, donuts, and music. (2701 Alki SW)
