West Seattle, Washington
18 Saturday
In case you missed it, here’s a quick reminder that we have published the map and sale list for West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day 2025 – just six days away, on Saturday, May 10. Here’s the link for the interactive online version, and here’s the link for the printable guide (37 pages this year!), with all 570+ sale listings in numerical order. And check back later in the week, as we’ll be updating the online map’s page with mini-lists, updates on any last-minute cancellations, and whatever else you might need to know. Official hours for the 20th anniversary WSCGSD are 9 am-3 pm Saturday, but check the listings to see who’s starting earlier, who’s ending later, and who’s adding extra days! From northernmost Sale #464 on Duwamish Head (where “small trees” are among the merchandise) to southernmost Sale #10 at Seola Beach (with “steampunk lighting fixtures” among other things), WSCGSD is all over the peninsula, this Saturday.
We are now just one week away from West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day 2025 – on Saturday, May 10 – and as promised, we have finished the map and sale list so you can preview who’s selling what, where. If you haven’t already found it via our site menu or main-page Spotlight Stories, here’s the link for the interactive online version, and here’s the link for the printable guide (37 pages this year!), with all 570+ sale listings in numerical order. Official sale hours are 9 am-3 pm on Saturday, but some sellers have chosen to start early and/or end late, while some have chosen to add extra days (Sunday is the most popular extra day). Throughout the week, we’ll be spotlighting some mini-lists – nonprofit benefits, for example – among other previews. WSCGSD, coordinated by WSB, celebrates its 20th anniversary this year – thanks to thousands of sellers and shoppers for making it a fun day of “person-to-person recycling”!
As we get ready to launch this year’s West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day map and list in less than 48 hours, we have two updates geared toward people still looking for someplace to sell their stuff:
MAARTEN PARK SPACE AVAILABLE: The neighborhood parklet at 42nd/Juneau was already registered as a group fundraising sale – then today we got word they’re also offering space:
West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day! No yard? No problem! Maarten Park will have tables available for anyone who’d like to sign up and sell their treasures! There will also be a birdhouse-making station for kids and a lemonade stand. Donations for table use & birdhouses are suggested, and all proceeds go toward annual park maintenance costs. Text Krystal to reserve your table! 306-703-1041
Read the story of Maarten Park in our coverage of its dedication last year.
FAUNTLEROY SCHOOLHOUSE SPACE AVAILABLE: We’ve mentioned this briefly already, but the historic schoolhouse (9131 California SW) wants to ensure you know the full plan:
We are excited to announce our participation in the 20th West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day on May 10th! Our participation is not just a sale, but a crucial fundraiser to support Fauntleroy Children’s Center, the nonprofit central to our mission. We’ll also have a bake sale, a 50/50 raffle, and more activities so grab the family and start your Garage Sale Day at the Fauntleroy Schoolhouse!
Our teachers have been working hard at work putting together our first sale since we opened in 1978! Take about vintage finds! We have household décor, children’s clothes from infant – 12 years old, so many toys, books, sports equipment, furniture, tools, a beautiful outdoor playhouse and more!

The other site offering community spaces is Hotwire Coffee; we haven’t received an update with them, so check directly with Hotwire to see if they’re all booked..
Again, West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day – the 20th anniversary WSCGSD, with 570+ sales of all sizes, all over the peninsula, registered – is Saturday, May 10; we’ll have the (interactive) map and (printable) list available starting THIS Saturday (May 3) here on WSB.
Just 10 days until West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day 2025, this year with a record 570+ sales registered for Saturday, May 10, from Duwamish Head in the north to Seola Beach in the south, from Highland Park in the east to Alki Point in the west, and everywhere inbetween. Here’s what’s happening right now: As WSCGSD coordinators, we’re assembling the map and list so they’ll be ready to browse starting Saturday morning, May 3, one week before Garage Sale Day, so you can make your plan and/or just see what your neighbors are doing – that’s the beauty of WSCGSD, it’s a day for meeting neighbors and celebrating community. Official hours on WSCGSD – celebrating its 20th anniversary – are 9 am to 3 pm, but as you’ll see in the listings, some are starting earlier, some are ending later, some are even adding extra days. Once the map’s out, we’ll publish some subset lists – not just hours/days, but, for example, the lists of sales offering particularly popular categories of stuff, sales benefiting nonprofits, sales offering food/beverages … so keep watch on WSB in the days ahead! (We’re also busy putting up posters and circulating word of WSCGSD around the region.)
P.S. We also want to remind you that WSCGSD coicides again this year with Stamp Out Hunger, USPS letter carriers’ door-to-door food drive, so make a note to have a bag of nonperishable food to set out, if you can, before you get busy with shopping and/or selling that day!
When registration for West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day 2025 ended last night at 11:30 after three and a half weeks, more than 570 sales were signed up – a new WSCGSD record! We’ve spent the day reviewing the final registrations for sale day (just two weeks from tomorrow – 9 am-3 pm Saturday, May 10!), answering WSCGSD questions, and other work making the database ready to turn into the interactive map and printable guide with the numbered locations and descriptions of those 570+ sales. As always, the descriptions promise a vast array of merchandise – two cars, one boat, bikes, plenty of plants, Santa suits, DJ equipment, accordions, pianos, aquarium supplies, “reptile habitat,” even a precious commodity these days – “fresh organic eggs.” And then there’s the sale offering a Honda Element catalytic-converter cage … If Saturday shopping isn’t enough for you, some sellers have added Sunday, a few have added Friday, and some have expanded hours. Some sales have been named – Kitchenpalooza, Bougie on a Budget – while other listings describe a stage of life (along with moving sales and stuff-the-kids-outgrew sales, we have a “changing chapter” sale and many “downsizing” sales. At least two dozen sales with nonprofit beneficiaries, too. You’ll see it all in the map/guide when they’re ready one week before sale day (the link will be here on WSB and at westseattlegaragesale.com). More updates and previews ahead as we get ready for the 20th anniversary WSCGSD!
Registration for getting your sale on the West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day 2025 map has been open all month, since April 1, and now we’re down to the final hours – registration closes at 11:30 tonight.
5:26 PM: Thanks to everyone who’s signed up already, this should be an incredible day of what we sometimes call person-to-person recycling – Saturday, May 10, 2025 is sale day, and more than 540 sellers are on the list already, all over West Seattle (and a bit further south too). Once registration closes, our work as WSCGSD coordinators moves immediately into putting together the map and guide with the full list of sale locations and descriptions so we can make that all available one week in advance of sale day. WSB has been coordinating WSCGSD since 2008; it was founded in 2005, so this is the 20th anniversary! Want to be part of it? Go here before 11:30 tonight!
EARLY FRIDAY: Closed! More than 570 sales registered … a new WSCGSD record. Full update later today.
West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day 2025 is just two and a half weeks away – Saturday, May 10 – and we’re just about to hit 500 registered sales. We’ve been making lists of the unusual items and descriptions we’ve seen while reviewing listings, but what always strikes us the most is what a wide variety of interests is represented in the items for sale – music, camping, snow sports, water sports, other sports, games, baby gear, kids’ toys, vintage clothing, antique items, and that’s just a start. But right now, the main focus is getting to the end of the three and a half weeks of registration so that we can finalize the list and make the map and listings packet so they’re ready to publish by Saturday morning, May 3. The form is open until 11:30 pm tomorrow (Thursday, April 24) – if you haven’t registered your sale yet, go here ASAP!
Some call their stuff junk, some call it treasures. However you describe what you’ll be selling, just a quick reminder – the registration deadline for West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day 2025 is now just two days away. You have until 11:30 pm Thursday to join the 440 sellers who’ve already registered sales – benefit sales, moving sales, cleanout sales, block sales, business sales, more, all over the peninsula, from Alki to White Center, from Pigeon Point to the Arroyos, and beyond. Sale day is Saturday, May 10, 9 am-3 pm (some earlier and some are later, as you’ll see on the map and in the guide when it’s available a week in advance). So if you haven’t registered your sale yet, hurry – you have until 11:30 pm Thursday (April 24) to sign up here!
P.S. Another reminder that we’ve heard of two confirmed sites offering spaces to sellers – if you need a space for a small sale – Fauntleroy Schoolhouse and Hotwire Coffee. Please contact them directly to see if they have space left!
“Is it junk, or is it everything you ever dreamed of?” asks one of the almost 400 listings we’ve received so far as registration for West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day 2025 – the 20th anniversary of the first WSCGSD – enters its final days. We’ve reviewed more than 300 of the listings already, and have noted more than 20 fundraisers – from schools to Scouts to service clubs – as well as more than a dozen that will be treat-enhanced (lemonade, cookies, hot dogs, cotton candy, more). One sale is offering kids’ face painting! The big day is now less than three weeks away, on Saturday, May 10, 9 am-3 pm (though some are starting earlier and some are ending later, as you’ll see on the map and in the guide when it’s available a week in advance), from Alki in the north to White Center in the south. (Someone even tried to register a sale in Ballard – sorry, that’s just a bit too far to stretch the boundaries.) If you haven’t registered your sale yet, you have until 11:30 pm this Thursday (April 24) to do it here!
P.S. The confirmed sites offering spaces to sellers – if you need a space for a small sale – remain Fauntleroy Schoolhouse and Hotwire Coffee; please contact them directly to see if they have room and if so, how to get in on that.
If you’re going to join in the region’s largest community garage-sale day – but you’re not registered yet – hurry! The registration deadline for West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day 2025 is now one week away, 11:30 pm next Thursday (April 24)! Registration gets you on the map and in the guide for the 20th-anniversary WSCGSD, 9 am-3 pm Saturday, May 10 (you can add hours or even days to your sale, but that’s the basic window for everybody), coordinated by us at WSB. More than 330 sales are signed up as of tonight, all over West Seattle and a bit beyond (we have a couple White Center signups so far), and a wide variety not only of merchandise (the sales whose listings we’ve reviewed so far include a boat and a classic car) but also of treats – besides the classic lemonade stands, we have one sale offering sourdough bread and sourdough chocolate-chip cookies! Be part of the fun, meet your neighbors, convert some not-needed stuff into cash. Clicking here takes you to the registration form; whether you’re selling or shopping, check in here on Saturday, May 3, one week before WSCGSD, when we’ll launch the map and guide.
With nine days to go until the April 24 deadline for registering to be on the map for West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day 2025, we’re reviewing the listings so we’ll be ready to make the map and guide as soon as the list is final. The first seller to register has an early lead on most-memorable description: “Aging hipsters not cool enough for this stuff – come and get it!” We’ve just hit 300 registrations, and among the most popular types of offerings, a quick search reveals we already have 43 mentions of kid stuff, 31 mentions of art (including the ever-popular annual glass-art sale!), 27 mentions of camping gear, 25 mentions of baby-related items … but even more common than any of those, we have 44 sales with descriptions mentioning “vintage”! Chances are good that no matter what you’re looking for, someone will have it. The big day of sales all around the peninsula is Saturday, May 10, 9 am-3 pm (with some sales choosing to start earlier and/or end later and/or add an extra day). So far we have two confirmed sites that are offering spaces to people who need somewhere to sell their stuff – Fauntleroy Schoolhouse and Hotwire Coffee; please contact them directly if interested. If you’re registering your own sale at your own location, this link will take you to our form! If you’ll be a shopper, watch for the map and guide one week before WSCGSD. More updates to come!
Four weeks from today – on Saturday, May 10, 2025 – it’s the 20th anniversary of West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day, one huge day with hundreds of sales all around the peninsula. WSB has coordinated Garage Sale Day since its fourth year (2008); this year, we opened registration on April 1 and will close it on April 24, so today is the midpoint. More than 250 sales of all sizes are registered already, with locations and listings (up to 25 words describing their sale). Once registration closes, we use the addresses and descriptions to make a numbered map and printable guide that will be available one week in advance, so that shoppers can plan where to go – even if you just check out who’s within walking distance and go meet neighbors you don’t already know. It’s a busy day of person-to-person recycling as well as neighborhood mingling. If you’re planning a sale and haven’t registered yet, here’s where to go.
After nine days of registration, more than 220 sales are signed up for West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day 2025 – the 20th-anniversary edition of the annual day for what we call “person-to-person recycling,” all over the peninsula. This year’s WSCGSD is on May 10, the second Saturday in May as usual, 9 am-3 pm (you can start earlier and/or end later if you choose to). In addition to all the individual sales signed up, we have school groups, nonprofits, businesses, block sales … and watch for an update tomorrow on multi-seller sites, if you’re looking for someplace to sell YOUR stuff. Registration will continue for two more weeks, through April 24; if you are ready to register your sale, draft your up-to-25-words listing and go here to register! (Also as usual, the WSCGSD map will be available online – in interactive and printable-list formats – one week before sale day.)
After six days of registration, more than 150 sales are signed up for West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day 2025 – the 20th-anniversary edition of the annual day for selling and shopping all over the peninsula. WSCGSD is always the second Saturday in May, 9 am-3 pm (you can also start earlier and/or end later if you want to), so this year it’s on May 10. WSB coordinates this event, and so far we have registrations from North Admiral to North Shorewood, Alki to Arbor Heights, Genesee Hill to Sunrise Heights, North Delridge to Upper Morgan, Fairmount Park to Highland Park, Seaview to Westwood, Fauntleroy to South Delridge, White Center to Alaska Junction, and other neighborhoods. Also multiple school groups, scout groups, apartment/condo buildings, and businesses!
If you don’t have room for a sale, the first site to register with spaces for multiple vendors is Hotwire Coffee in The Junction – please contact them directly to see if they have room for more sellers (and if you’re planning a site with room for multiple sellers, register it soon so we can mention it in updates – we always hear from would-be sellers looking for these types of sites).
Planning to be one of this year’s sale locations? You have 2+ more weeks to sign up but don’t procrastinate – you might forget – so draft your up-to-25-words listing and gp here to register! And if you’re planning on shopping, watch for the WSCGSD map to be available online one week before sale day.
After three days of registration, more than 100 sales are already on the list for West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day 2025. Saturday, May 10, will be the 20th anniversary of WSCGSD, and already guaranteed to be a busy day of what we call “person-to-person recycling.” From North Admiral to South Delridge, Alki to Arbor Heights, the registered locations already span the peninsula, with all sorts of offerings (including treat and beverage sales – one sale is offering sourdough chocolate-chip cookies, another plans a matcha-drink stand). As always, WSCGSD is not one big sale, but instead many sales of all sizes, 9 am-3 pm (some starting earlier and some ending later), in hundreds of places around West Seattle, all on one day. If you’re planning to host one of those sales, you have three more weeks to register – then we lock down the list so we can make the map and guide in time for shoppers’ review and planning a week in advance. Ready to register your sale? Here’s where to go!
From Fauntleroy to Westwood to Highland Park to North Admiral, more than 60 sales all over the peninsula are already registered for West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day 2025 – WSCGSD’s 20th anniversary – and we are into the second day of registration! This year’s WSCGSD is Saturday, May 10 (second Saturday in May as always). Official sale hours are 9 am-3 pm, though some sellers choose to start earlier and/or wrap up later. Registration will continue for about three and a half weeks, so you have ample time to decide if you want to be part of it. If you’re just planning to be a shopper – the sale map/guide, with sellers’ 25-word listings, will be available one week before sale day. If you’re ready to register a sale, here’s where to go! (Any questions about WSCGSD, email us at westseattleblog@gmail.com.)
As promised, we’ve opened registration today for this year’s West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day. It’s the one event each year that we at WSB don’t just cover, but also coordinate – we make the map and list that are available online one week before sale day. The big day is the second Saturday in May as always – this year that’s May 10 – and if you’re planning to have a sale, here’s where to register.
This year is the 20th anniversary of West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day – one day with many sales of many sizes, all around the peninsula, open at least 9 am-3 pm on sale day (earlier and/or later if you want to, but that’s up to you). It’s not the only neighborhood sale day in Seattle, but it’s the biggest; the people who founded it in 2005 (three years before handing the baton to us at WSB) were particularly inspired by PhinneyWood Garage Sale Day in the north end. Registration for WSCGSD gets your sale onto the map and into the listings guide, which we promote regionally – we’ve heard of people who come from as far away as Eastern Washington!
You can sign up any time you’re ready over the next three and a half weeks or so; we’ll set the exact end date when we get closer. Same classifications and fees we’ve had for all the years we’ve been coordinating this. And before you register, be ready with your up-to-25-word sale listing – think about what you’re selling that’s popular and/or unusual, for example. Any questions, email westseattleblog@gmail.com or call/text our hotline at 206-293-6302. Updates to come (including multi-seller sites that offer space for people who have small sales/no place to host a sale – if your venue is planning to do that, please tell us ASAP)!
Six weeks from today – on Saturday, May 10 – most sellers and buyers will be recovering from West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day – marking its 20th anniversary this year, since the first one was in 2005! We at WSB didn’t launch it but we’ve been coordinating it since 2008. It’s one big day with hundreds of sales all around the peninsula, shown on a map/list that we make available one week before sale day. First step to get on the map/list is to register, starting this Tuesday, April 1; we’ll announce it here when the form is open and ready to go. Official sale hours on May 10 are 9 am-3 pm, but some start early and some start late – if you plan extra hours (or even day/s), include that in your up-to-25-words listing when you register! We’re excited about another big day of person-to-person recycling, so set your calendar.
One week from today – on Tuesday, April 1 – registration begins for this year’s West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day! The big day is Saturday, May 10 – always the second Saturday in May – and 2025 is the 20th anniversary edition; WSCGSD was founded in 2005, and WSB has coordinated it since 2008. Our standard reminder – WSCGSD is not one big sale at one site, but instead it’s sales of all sizes, all over the peninsula, depending on who decides to sign up for sale day! After we close registration (which will be open for just over three weeks), we build a map that’s published via WSB one week before sale day, accompanied by a printable list of all the sales, identified by number and address, with the short summaries that sellers provide when registering.
Official WSCGSD hours on May 10 are 9 am-3 pm; some sellers start early and/or end late – some add extra day(s)! – so if you’re having a sale, be sure to include that information with your registration (there’s a place on the form). Once the form is open and ready to go on April 1, we’ll announce that here. We’re looking forward as always to the biggest “person-to-person recycling” day of the year!
Saturday, May 10, is this year’s West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day, the 20th anniversary edition – coordinated by WSB since the fourth WSCGSD in 2008. We are now two weeks away from the start of registration on April 1. Reminder – WSCGSD is not one big sale at one site, but instead sales of all sizes, all over the peninsula, so after we close registration (which will be open for just over three weeks), we build a map that’s published one week before sale day, plus a list of all the sales identified by number and address, with the short sale summary provided during registration. Official WSCGSD hours on May 10 are 9 am-3 pm; some sellers start early and/or end late – some even add extra day(s)! – so if you’re having a sale, be sure to include that information with your registration (there’s a place on the form).
P.S. For people with just a few things to sell, and/or nowhere to have a sale, so far we’ve heard from the Fauntleroy Schoolhouse, which will have community spaces in its big back parking lot, with all proceeds going toward their fundraising for a new van. Others planning to offer community spaces, please let us know ASAP! westseattleblog@gmail.com – thank you.
Spring is in view and so is this year’s West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day, Saturday, May 10. It’s the 20th anniversary edition – West Seattle’s biggest person-to-person recycling day was founded in 2005 (we’ve been coordinating it since the fourth WSCGSD in 2008). Registration will open April 1. If you’re new, know that WSCGSD is not one big sale at one site, but rather sales of all sizes, all over the peninsula, so after the close of registration (which will be open for just over three weeks), we build a map that’s published one week before sale day, plus a list with the sales identified by number and address, and the short sale summary provided during registration. Official WSCGSD hours on May 10 are 9 am-3 pm, but some sellers start early and/or end late – some even add extra day(s)! – so if you’re having a sale, be sure to include that information with your registration (there’s a spot on the form).
We missed the chance to remind you earlier this week that West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day‘s 20th anniversary edition is three months away – so today, we’re giving you the 12-week warning! WSCGSD is always the second Saturday in May, and this year that’s May 10. We’ve been coordinating it since 2008 but a now-gone nonprofit called Megawatt founded it in 2005, so this year marks 20 years. Registration will open April 1; WSCGSD is not one big sale somewhere, but rather sales of all sizes, all over the peninsula, so after registration (which lasts a little over three weeks) closes, we make a map that’s available one week before sale day, plus a list with short descriptions of each sale’s highlights. For people with just a few things to sell, and/or nowhere to have a sale, there are usually a few places that offer community spaces (if you’re planning on being one of those sites this year, please let us know as early as possible so we can include that in registration promotion). Official WSCGSD hours on May 10 are 9 am-3 pm, but some sellers choose to start early and/or end late – some even add extra day(s)! So whether you’re planning on being a seller or buyer, Saturday, May 10 is the day to plan on being part of what we call West Seattle’s biggest person-to-person recycling day of the year.

You don’t have to have a cute mascot to participate in West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day, but it might help! Charlotte the corgi was hanging out in south Highland Park during last year’s WSCGSD, and we pulled her photo from that day’s as-it-happened coverage to help remind you that this year’s WSCGSD is getting closer – now less than four months away, on Saturday, May 10, 2025. This year’s a milestone, too, the 20th anniversary of WSCGSD! the founders ran a nonprofit called Megawatt, and decided to try it as a community-building event in 2005. After presenting it for three years, Megawatt announced it was disbanding, and looked for someone to take over WSCGSD … we raised our hand, and have been organizing it since 2008, always on the same date they chose, second Saturday in May. Registration will open on April 1st. (P.S. If you’re new – WSCGSD isn’t one big sale – it’s hundreds of sales, all sizes, all over the peninsula, depending on who decides to participate!)
