TRAFFIC ALERTS: Here’s what SDOT has announced for today:

*Eastbound lanes of the Spokane Street Viaduct will be closed 8 am-4 pm today, as previewed here.

*By 7 am today, crews should be finishing overnight work on markings at 1st Ave S/East Marginal Way S and 2nd Ave SW/Highland Park Way SW.

COLMAN POOL: Last Saturday of the year that you will be able to swim at the outdoor pool on the Lincoln Park shore, noon-7 pm.

In honor of Antoine Matthews Jr, we will be hosting our 1st Annual King Cee Day Celebration on Saturday, September 3, 2022 in West Seattle at SouthWest Community Center from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm.

Antoine was a giver and always gave out of the goodness of his heart. We will continue his Legacy of Giving back by using his light to spread love and positivity throughout the city.

Mostly from the WSB West Seattle Event Calendar, here’s what’s happening today:

TRAFFIC ALERTS: Here’s what SDOT has scheduled:

While we remove the work platforms on the eastern span of the high bridge, people accessing Terminal 102 will be rerouted as a safety measure to avoid the work area. These traffic impacts will occur again today. Those traveling east and westbound on SW Spokane St will not be impacted. Detour signs will be in place for those traveling to and from Terminal 102.

As part of the Reconnect West Seattle project, we will be completing several projects.

-We’ll be paving California Ave SW between SW Walker St and SW Hill St again today. This work is anticipated to begin as early as 7 AM and conclude by 4 PM. There will be minor traffic impacts.
-We’ll be paving 35th Ave SW from SW Edmunds to SW Alaska St. Both directions of traffic will be maintained, but drivers can expect delays in the area. Work is anticipated to begin at 7 AM and conclude by 4 PM
-To improve visibility, our landscaping crews will be working on SW Roxbury St between 9th Ave SW and 14th Ave SW to clear vegetation. Work will begin as early as 7 AM and conclude by 3 PM. There will be minor traffic impacts, however you may experience delays while traveling through the area

As part of necessary maintenance work, we will be replacing concrete panels on 16th Ave SW and SW Webster St. This work is anticipated to begin as early as 7 AM and conclude by 4 PM. Traffic in all directions will be maintained, but drivers can expect delays in the area.

Also, WSDOT‘s “Revive I-5” work continues on southbound I-5 between I-90 and the West Seattle Bridge exit.

So many options for today, all around the peninsula! From the WSB West Seattle Event Calendar, and other previews, here’s what’s happening on your Saturday:

TRAFFIC ALERTS: Here’s what SDOT has announced for today:

Expect minor traffic impacts on Harbor Island at the SW Manning St and SW Klickitat Way intersection. While we remove the work platforms on the eastern span of the high bridge, people accessing Terminal 102 will be rerouted as a safety measure to avoid the work area. These traffic impacts will occur during the day on Saturday and Sunday. Those traveling east and westbound on SW Spokane St will not be impacted. Weather permitting, we will be installing intersection markings on two intersections through this morning at 7 AM. The intersections we will be marking are:

-1st Ave S and East Marginal Way S
-2nd Ave SW and Highland Park Way SW

Traffic lanes will be closed as needed and they will be restored after the intersection markings have been painted.

As part of necessary maintenance work, we will also be replacing concrete panels on 16th Ave SW and SW Webster St. This work is anticipated to begin as early as 7 AM and conclude by 4 PM. Traffic in all directions will be maintained, but drivers can expect delays in the area.

WSDOT also has more “Revive I-5” lane closures on southbound I-5 between I-90 and the West Seattle exit, all weekend.

IF YOU’RE GOING TO LINCOLN PARK … note that a film/video crew is expected to be working in the north parking lot vicinity all day, and there are parking restrictions both in that lot and on the east side of Fauntleroy Way.

THE GREAT CROSS-SOUND RACE: Sound Rowers and Paddlers‘ annual race from Alki to Bainbridge and back is scheduled for this morning, starting around 9 am.

COLMAN POOL OPEN: Noon-7 pm, go swimming in the saltwater pool on the shore at Lincoln Park (8011 Fauntleroy Way SW).

TRAFFIC ALERTS: Here’s what SDOT has scheduled today:

We will be paving a median island on West Marginal Way SW, just north of the Highland Park Way SW intersection. Work is anticipated to begin as early as 7 AM and will conclude by 3 PM. Please anticipate delays while driving through the area.

In South Park, our traffic signal crews will be replacing overhead signs and complete signal wiring activities on 14th Ave S and S Cloverdale St. The work is anticipated to begin as early as 7 AM and conclude by 3 PM. We anticipate minimal traffic impacts as a majority of the work will be completed from the sidewalk, however, please navigate the area with caution. A detour will be set up for people using the sidewalk. (The traffic signals may be out too, in which case uniformed police will direct traffic.)

Also, WSDOT‘s “Revive I-5” work continues on southbound I-5 between I-90 and the West Seattle Bridge exit.

Mostly from the WSB West Seattle Event Calendar, here’s what’s happening on your Saturday:

TRAFFIC ALERTS: Here’s what SDOT has announced for all day today:

-We’ll be working in south Delridge at 16th Ave SW and SW Cambridge St to update curb bulbs and curb ramps. We’ll maintain one driving lane of traffic in each direction.

-We’ll be replacing concrete panels as part of necessary maintenance work on 16th Ave SW and SW Myrtle St. We’ll maintain one lane of traffic in each direction.

-To improve visibility due to overgrown landscaping, we’ll be on SW Roxbury St at Olson Place SW to clean the median islands located at the intersection. We will close a driving lane in both directions on either side of the median, so people driving can expect delays.

-We’re paving 8th Ave S from S Kenyon St to S Portland St in South Park. We will restrict parking and maintain one driving lane of traffic in each direction.

TRAFFIC ALERTS: Here’s what SDOT has announced for today:

We will be working in South Delridge at 16th Ave SW and SW Cambridge St to update curb bulbs and curb ramps. Work will begin as early as 8 am and conclude by 5 pm. We’ll maintain one lane of traffic in each direction.

Between 7 am and 5 pm, we’re paving 8th Ave S from S Kenyon St to S Portland St in South Park. We will restrict parking and maintain one lane of traffic in each direction. People driving should expect delays while the lanes are closed.

SOUTH DELRIDGE FARMERS’ MARKET: 10 am-2 pm, local vendors sell fresh-grown and prepared food at this (corrected) twice-monthly market; details in our calendar listing, (9421 18th SW)

WEST DUWAMISH GREENBELT HIKE: Explore tribal use of native plants during this hike starting at 10 am at The Heron’s Nest (4818 15th SW).
